About

Hi, I'm Celest Winfrey.

I started my journey into Midwifery in 2013 as a student at Nizhoni School of Midwifery in San Diego California. I finished didactic training in November of 2016. I became a Licensed Midwife and Certified Professional Midwife in 2018/2019.

I joined Family Centered Birth in August of 2016 and completed my apprenticeship with Kate Potthast. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science, I am a trained Postpartum Doula through CAPPA, and
became an IBCLC in 2010; I have been helping women with breastfeeding for over 10 years.

I work in several hospitals doing rounds in Postpartum, Labor and Delivery, and NICU providing lactation support when I am not attending to my clients and delivering babies. I also worked with WIC (Women Infant Children Program), taught support Peer Groups and have provided breastfeeding support to women and their babies in the Native American communities.

While working with women and babies in the hospital and in the various communities as well as after the birth of my own 3 children (Cameron, Caleb & Camille) I felt the call of midwifery on my life and I am very excited to assist women during their pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

Celest is absolutely fantastic! She came to my house the day I came home from the hospital with my baby.  Admittedly, I was a mess and very worried because my milk hadn’t come in and my baby was losing weight.  She was calm and reassured me that all would be fine. She gave me simple and concrete steps to take to encourage milk production, and she taught me how to make sure my baby had a good latch. As I worked through breastfeeding, she was ALWAYS available to answer my questions and to provide moral support.  I couldn’t have asked for a better lactation consultant.  My advice is call Celest as soon as you have questions or concerns - don’t wait!!
